Exploring the activity feed for datasets

This page provides information about the dataset activity feed. If you need the activity feed for all resources, please refer to the Activity feed for resources page.

The dataset activity feed provides a detailed log of all events and updates related to your dataset. It serves as a centralized record, allowing you to monitor dataset changes and access previous versions efficiently.

This feature is accessible through the Activity tab on your dataset page. Additionally, the recent activities related to the dataset are available from the Recent updates section on the Dataset overview page.

Details captured in the activity feed

The Activity tab in your dataset shows a detailed record of all changes, including what was modified, when it happened, who made the change, and which object was affected. The following details are included in each activity entry.

Description

Change type

Indicates what kind of activity was made and provides a record of the modification made to the dataset or its contents, including what changed and its updated state.

Contributor information

The user avatar and username to identify who made the change. Note: For system-driven events, the action icon is displayed without user information and labeled as Was modified by base layer.

Associated object link

A direct link to the related item or resource affected by the change. This link is available for activities where a specific object is modified or referenced.

Timestamp

The exact time the activity occurred, offering chronological context for the dataset progress.

Updating dataset details

Modifications to the description, tags, summary, or title.

Adding content

Uploading insights, files (from a computer or URL), connecting datasets, syncing related resources, or creating queries.

Managing discussions

Creating new discussion topics and commenting on existing ones.

Adjusting dataset settings

Changing dataset visibility settings or adding new users.

Removing content

Deleting files or datasets.



Viewing the activity feed

To manage and explore activity details:

  1. Navigate to the Activity tab on the dataset page.

  2. View a stream of all tracked changes related to the dataset. For detailed information about specific changes, click Show changes to view additional details.

  3. Hover over the timestamp of any event to view the exact time it occurred. To explore more, click the linked name to open the associated event item.

  4. For changes that involve file additions or metadata updates, you can download the corresponding version by selecting Download version from the Three dot menu associated with the change.

  5. To view a complete list of all available file versions for download, navigate to the Versions sub-tab. This feature is particularly useful when you need to access the older versions of files included in the dataset.
