About base platform data

Important

This feature is only available for Private instance and Single Tenant instance installations.

Base platform data is a comprehensive and curated collection of data.world platform data tables that provides enterprise customers with deep, actionable insights into their platform usage, user activity, and resource management.

Designed specifically for Private instance and Single Tenant instance deployments, base platform data supports advanced use cases such as analytics, auditing, and operational visibility.

With base platform data, you can answer questions like:

  • Which users are most active on the platform and how are they engaging?

  • What datasets are being created, queried, or deleted?

  • How is API usage trending over time?

  • What search terms are most commonly used across the organization?

  • How are resources like queries, datasets, and subscriptions evolving over time?

Whether you are a platform administrator, data analyst, or governance lead, base platform data equips you with the information needed to monitor behavior, optimize performance, and ensure accountability across your data.world environment.

Description

Audit events

Audit events allow administrators to monitor the actions performed by all the users in the data.world application through the UI or while using API. The audit log reporting functionality enhances the accountability of actions in the application. Administrators can track the actions taken by users in the application and find the root cause of issues by identifying the resources on which the action was performed and who performed the action.

Platform analytics

A collection of resources that track and analyze various aspects of catalog usage and user behavior. It includes daily summaries of dataset interactions, user activity, API usage, and metadata management. Provides comprehensive insights into platform engagement, resource utilization, and customer trends. These tables are essential for monitoring the overall health and performance of the platform.

Platform events

The platform events capture how users interact and engage with the platform. The events provide critical insights into user behaviors, such as identity management, resource engagement, content downloads, and navigational patterns, enabling a comprehensive understanding of how users interact with the platform.

Platform records

Platform records contain records of user activities and interactions across various platforms, including transaction history, preferences, and engagement metrics. It also stores information on user profiles, such as account details and demographic information. This provides a comprehensive view of user behavior and preferences.

How can you get access to base platform data?

data.world can deliver the base platform data information to you in two ways:

  • Special datasets - audits, analytics, platform-events, and platform-records - are automatically added in the data-catalog-team organization for all single-tenant and Private Instance installations.

  • Additionally, customers on single tenant and private instance installations can request the base platform data to be delivered to your Snowflake account using Private Marketplace Listing.

To be able to use this feature, your Snowflake account must be setup as Consumer of listings.
