Enriching catalog resources using Archie

Archie helps enhance catalog resources by generating descriptions for key elements such as Tables, Columns, Glossary Terms, Collections, and metadata entities like Views, dbt Tests, dbt Models, Snowflake Masking Policies, and Snowflake Access Policies. This improves metadata consistency and resource discoverability. For bulk description generation, see Enriching catalog resources in bulk using Archie.

To enrich the catalog resource descriptions using Archie:

  1. Browse to a resource that allows generating descriptions using Archie. For example, collections.

  2. On the Overview tab, in the About section, click the Edit button.

  3. In the Description field, click the Click to ask Archie for a suggestion button.

  4. The system processes the request and fills the Description field with automatically generated content. The content is pre-fixed with [Archie suggestion] to annotate that it is generated by Archie. If you want to generate a different description, click the Click to ask Archie for a suggestion button again. That generates a new description. You can edit the content to tailor it your needs.

  5. Use the Did Archie suggest a relevant description? to give feedback on the auto-generated content.

  6. Click the Save button to save your changes.
