Preview: Redesigned resources, glossary, and collections pages

The redesigned resources, glossary, and collections pages introduce a more intuitive and efficient user experience. These updates enhance navigation, provide better visibility into resource relationships, and allow for greater customization. By opting into the preview, users can explore these new features and provide valuable feedback to refine the experience further.

Key Benefits

  • Enhanced resource viewing:  Expanded space for the Overview tab and the Related and Contained resource lists allows for better organization and provides a more spacious layout for viewing and managing resources efficiently across all pages.

  • More efficient navigation:  The left-side navigation on the Overview tab is moved to the top for better usability.

  • Full search experience:  Improved filtering and searching capabilities within resource lists.

  • Customizable displays: Toggle between List and Table views and adjust visible columns.

  • New Lineage tab:  View and interact with data lineage in a dedicated space.

  • Inline editing: Edit resource fields directly on the page, with automatic draft saving to prevent loss of changes.

Opting into the preview

To enable the preview of the redesigned pages:

  1. Browse to a collection, glossary, or resource page.

  2. In the Preview banner, click Turn on preview. The page refreshes to display the new user interface.

  3. Explore the new features and provide feedback on your experience.

  4. To revert to the original interface, click Turn off preview in the Preview banner.

Navigating the redesigned pages

Explore the redesigned Overview tab

To explore the redesigned Overview tab:

  1. Browse to a collection, glossary, or resource page. Opt-in to the preview.

  2. On the Overview tab, navigate the different sections of the page, using the top navigation bar. View the About and Technical details in the right panel. Click the Collapse button to close the panel, if you want.

  3. In the main panel, check the At a glance section for a comprehensive summary of the resource, including its description and ownership details. It includes a tabular view of what is contained in the resource.

  4. The Relationships section displays the list of related resources. If there is no related resource, the section is hidden.

  5. In the Lineage section, if available, preview the data lineage to understand how data is connected and derived within this resource. Click the View lineage button to open the Lineage tab and explore the data lineage in more detail and see how data flows through the system.

  6. The new resource pages also provide a fast and easy inline editing that allows you to update key information without leaving the page. If you make edits and move away from a field, your draft changes are saved for you in the browser to come back and edit.

To explore the redesigned relationships, contains, columns tabs:

  1. Browse to a collection, glossary, or resource page. Opt-in to the preview.

  2. Browse to the Related, Contained, or Columns tab to experience the new full page design.

  3. Utilize the full search experience to narrow down the list of resources displayed on the page. Apply specific filters to refine the data view and focus on the information that matters most. For example, narrow down the data displayed by filtering the view by a specific collection.

  4. Use the Actions button to perform all bulk actions and to add or remove resources from the list.

  5. Toggle between List and Table views of your resources.

  6. Switch to a Table view for better readability and analysis of the data in a structured format. In the Table view, customize which columns are visible or adjust their order to suit your needs. Click the Reset to default button to revert any changes made to the column settings back to their original state by clicking here.

  7. Switch to a List view for a different perspective on the data, which may aid in easier analysis.

  8. Open the preview of resources and use the inline editing to update the resources as you are viewing them in context of the list.

  1. In the Preview banner, click the thumbs.pngThumbs-up or Thumbs-down buttons for positive or negative rating.

  2. Select the feedback category from the provided list. You can select multiple options.

  3. Provide additional feedback in the text field to help us understand your experience in more detail.

  4. Click Send to submit your feedback to our team for review.
