Add a new subtype for glossary

STEP 1: Add a new Type called Metrics

Note

Perform this task in the Catalog Configuration organization.

  1. On the Organization profile page, go to the Resources tab.

  2. Click the New resource button.

  3. In the Add new resource window, set the following and click Continue.

    1. In the Title field, provide the name of the subtype as Metric.

    2. From the Choose type section, select Type.

    3. From the Choose one or more collections dropdown, select the Metadata profile collection.

  4. In the Edit resource window, set the Plural as Metrics set Ability to create in the UI as Allow UI creation. Click the Save button.

  5. On the Metrics page, on the Related tab, click Add related resource.

  6. In the Edit a related resource for the Type window, on the Type tab, search and select Business term. Click Add.

STEP 2: Publish the changes

Perform this task in the Catalog Sandbox organization.

  1. In the Catalog Sandbox organization, go the Glossary tab of the Organization profile page and click the New button.

  2. In the Add new resource window, you will notice the new type - Metric. Type a name for the terms and set the type as Metric.

  3. In the Edit resource window, set the following:

    1. Summary: Provide a summary.

    2. Data Steward: Set the data steward for the term you are adding.

      Note

      Note that any resource type that is a subtype of another resource inherits all the metadata fields from the parent resource. In our example, the Data Steward field is inherited by Metric from Business terms as Metrics is a sub type of business terms.
