Enabling the data products resource types (CTK)
Enable the Data Products module in Catalog Toolkit to unlock two new resource types, Data Product and Policy, and load their governed fields in a single step. After you publish the change, you can immediately start creating data products with the built-in fields required for the marketplace.
STEP 1: Enable the data products module
Note
Perform this task in the Catalog Configuration organization.
Start by enabling the module on the Metadata Profile collection.
To enable the module:
In the Catalog Configuration organization, browse to the Metadata profile collection.
In the Other Modules field, select Data Products. This activates the module and its related configuration. Save the changes.

STEP 2: Adding the select field options for data product fields
Note
Perform this task in the Catalog Configuration organization.
After you enabled the module, you need to add select field options. These fields define the values you can choose from when populating data product metadata.
To add the select field options:
In the Catalog Configuration organization, browse to the DDW Template Files (ddw-template-files) dataset.
Download the Select_metadata_fields-Data_Products.xlsx template file.
You can use this template as-is to include the default out-of-the-box select field values.
Optionally, you can update the template to include your own custom values.
Add the Excel file to the Select metadata fields dataset in the Catalog Configuration organization.
STEP 3: Customize the select fields for data products (optional)
Use the workbook to analyze the default fields, identify enrichment needs, and define any customizations for your catalog.
To customize the select fields:
Open the downloaded Excel file in a spreadsheet editor.
Explore the tabs at the bottom of the sheet. Each tab represents a specific select field. For example, Criticality, Data Product Category, and more.
Go to the sheet tab for the select field you want to modify.
Add or update values under the Level 1 column. For more details, see Create select fields (CTK).
When ready, upload your updated Excel file to the Select metadata fields dataset in the Catalog Configuration organization.

STEP 4: Sync the module configuration
Note
Perform this task in the Catalog Configuration organization.
Now that your module and select field values are set, sync the metadata profile to apply the changes.
To sync the configuration:
In the Catalog Configuration organization, browse to the DDW Export Profiles project.
Click Launch workspace.
In the Connected datasets section, locate the Data Catalog Configuration dataset for the Catalog Organization organization.
In the dataset, locate the source-modules.ttl file, and click the Sync now button.
Publish the changes
See: Publishing changes.
View the results
Note
Perform this task in the Catalog Sandbox or Main organization.
In the Sandbox Organization, on the Organization profile page, go to the Overview tab.
Click the New button and select Catalog resource.
On the Create a new resource page, you will notice that the new Data Product and Policy resource types are available.

Enhance data product relationships
Out-of-the-box, a data product can relate to resources in itself in four ways:
Data Product Component → is used by → Data Product — for designating a resource as a component of the data product.
Data Product Access Method → provides access to → Data Product — for designating a resource as an access method for the data product.
Data Product Input Source → is an input source for → Data Product — for designating a resource as an input for the data product.
Data Product → is governed by → Policy — for associating a policy with the data product.
Out-of-the-box, the Data Product Component, Data Product Access Method, and Data Product Input Source relationships are configured to allow Tables (and subclasses) to utilize these relationships to Data Product. To model other resource types—or relate one data product to another—extend the relationships in Catalog Config.
