Chatting with Archie from Slack

Important

To use this feature, ensure that the Slack integration for Archie is properly configured.

To chat with Archie from Slack:

  1. Browse to the Slack workspace enabled for Archie chat.

  2. Search for the data.world Archie app. Archie chat, your AI-powered catalog assistant, is designed to help you quickly find, understand, and connect with your data. Instead of manually searching through your catalog, you can ask Archie a question, just like you would in a conversation, and get immediate answers from trusted sources.

  3. Start by connecting your data.world account to Slack to enable integration and access catalog features directly within your workspace. On the next screen, review the access required by data.world Archie Chat and click Authorize data.world Archie Chat.

  4. In the first interaction, you will be required to pick the catalog (organization in data.world) you want to chat with. In the chat window, open the Select a catalog dropdown and choose your catalog, for example, Main.

  5. As a user of the catalog, ask Archie questions about your catalog's content such as What is our policy for sharing data with third parties?.

  6. Curators or Administrators can ask general questions about setting up and curating the catalog such as How do I harvest metadata from Snowflake?, How do I bulk update resources in my catalog?. Archie will explain the process and guide you to a step-by-step article in the data.world documentation.

  7. Engage in back-and-forth conversations to ask clarifying questions for further assistance.

  8. Click through resource links shared by Archie. All links open in a new window or tab.

  9. To view past conversations, go to the History tab. You can pick any previous conversation and continue your interaction by asking follow-up questions.

  10. To start a new chat, click the New Chat button in the chat window header. To switch chatting with a different catalog, open the Change catalog menu in the chat window and select a different catalog (organization in data.world).
