About the marketplace
The Marketplace is a new discovery experience in data.world that enables users to browse, explore, and request access to curated Data Products organized by business-aligned Domains. It provides a visually rich, hierarchical, and simplified interface designed to help users quickly find and evaluate data resources that are ready for consumption.
Marketplace builds on and extends the existing Catalog infrastructure, allowing organizations to author and enrich data assets internally, then selectively publish them for broader visibility. This enables a clean separation between work-in-progress curation in the catalog and end-user discovery in the marketplace.
Marketplace is accessible via the New Navigation experience, which must be explicitly enabled for an organization. Once enabled, the Marketplace appears as a top-level navigation tab alongside Catalog, Glossary, and Workbench. Users only see Marketplace if the organization has the Marketplace entitlement and they have access to resources published there (Marketplace enforces Catalog-based access controls).

Key terms and concepts
Data Products are the primary content type featured in the Marketplace. These are standard catalog resource types (kos-data-product:DataProduct) or custom types extended with required metadata fields (Marketplace Status, Cover Image). They must be marked as instantiable in CTK to be usable.
Domains act as logical, hierarchical groupings of Data Products, aligned with business functions rather than technical systems. Domains are based on the dwec:Domain collection type.
Cover Images provide visual merchandising for Data Products and are required to be shown in Marketplace. They can be uploaded or added via URL.
Marketplace Status determines whether a resource is visible in the Marketplace. Only items marked as Published to Marketplace will appear.
