Chatting with Archie from the catalog

Starting new chats with Archie

To start a new chat with Archie:

  1. Navigate to an organization where Archie chat is enabled. Archie chat, your AI-powered catalog assistant, is designed to help you quickly find, understand, and connect with your data. Instead of manually searching through your catalog, you can ask Archie a question, just like you would in a conversation, and get immediate answers from trusted sources.

  2. As a user of the catalog, ask Archie questions about your catalog's content such as What is our policy for sharing data with third parties?.

  3. Curators or Administrators can ask general questions about setting up and curating the catalog such as How do I harvest metadata from Snowflake?, How do I bulk update resources in my catalog?. Archie will explain the process and guide you to a step-by-step article in the data.world documentation.

  4. Engage in back-and-forth conversations to ask clarifying questions for further assistance.

  5. Click through resource links shared by Archie. External links open in a new window or tab, while catalog links open in the same window, providing a seamless user experience.

  6. In the context of a resource, you can just ask a question like Describe this resource. Archie will instantly recognize the context, providing you with detailed insights specific to what you are viewing.

  7. In Archie's response, review the Thought Process section for insights on how your query was processed. As Archie is coming back with a response, it goes through a thought process powered by data.world’s AI Context Engine .Archie doesn't just pulling a basic text search—it orchestrates multiple agents to gather information from different sources, including - Your data catalog and knowledge graph, Glossary terms and metadata, relevant content on data.world’s documentation website. Archie does not just gives a one-size-fits-all response—it pulls from the most relevant and up-to-date sources to provide trusted, contextual answers.

  8. To find glossary terms closely matching Archie's answer, access the Glossary Terms section in the response and click the glossary term title to navigate to it.

  9. If you encounter issues and wish to contact data.world, open the Give Feedback section and click the Open a Ticket link to create a support case.

  10. To start a new chat, click the New Chat button in the chat window header. To view past conversations, click the Previous chatsViewing Archie chat history link.

Viewing Archie chat history

To view the Archie chat history:

  1. Open the Archie chat window.

  2. In the chat window header, click Previous chats. That opens a list of all your previous chats with Archie.

  3. Use the filter on top of the list to locate the specific chat you are looking for.

  4. Hover-over a chat to view details about the chat such as when it was created, updated, and ID of the chat.

  5. If you want to continue a previous conversation, simply click to open the chat again and continue asking questions to Archie.

  6. To rename a chat, click the Three dot menu and select Rename. Change the name of the chat and click Enter to save it.

  7. To archive a chat, click the Three dot menu and select Archive. The chat will be removed from your list permanently and it cannot be retrieved.

  8. To create a copy of an existing chat, click the Three dot menu and select Duplicate. A copy of the chat is created. Feel free to rename to provide a user friendly name.

  9. Lastly, you can click the three dot menu to copy the ID of the chat. This comes handy when you share the details with the data.world support team for troubleshooting help.
