Getting access to marketplace preview
To get access to the marketplace preview:
Contact the data.world support team to turn on the Marketplace preview in in the specific data.world organizations.
Enabling the data products resource types
Enable the Data Product resource type via the CTK. to make the Marketplace accessible through the new navigation experience.
Creating data products
This section talks about how to create Data Products in the catalog. You will add the resource, place it under the appropriate domain type collection, and supply a cover image so it presents clearly in discovery experiences.
To create a data product:
In the New navigation experience, open the Catalog experience.
In the Resources section, click the New button and select Catalog resource.
On the Create a new resource page, in the Select type tab, select Data product. Click Continue.
The Create a new Data Product page opens.
In the Configure fields tab, set the following in the About section.
In the Title field, provide a clear name for the data product. This appears as the header on the resource page and on tiles in discovery experiences.
From the Collections dropdown, select a domain type collection.
In the Cover image section, add the data product image. Add the image by using brag and drop, the Browse image button, or toggle Enter image URL manually to paste a link. 400x200 is the best aspect ratio for the images but the system automatically adjusts the image to best fit in the available space.
In the Marketplace details section, from the Marketplace Status dropdown, choose the status:
Published to Marketplace: Make the data product visible in the marketplace.
Unpublished: Keep the data product hidden from the marketplace while you finish enrichment. This is the default option.
Complete the remaining fields based on your needs. Click Continue.

Criticality
A measure of the importance or impact of the data asset on organizational processes, decisions, or outcomes. Helps prioritize resources and governance efforts based on the asset's significance to business operations.
Sensitivity
A classification indicating the level of confidentiality or privacy required for the data. Guides access control and risk management strategies.
Review Status
The current state of approval or validation for the data product, indicating whether it has been reviewed, approved, rejected, or is pending assessment by relevant stakeholders or governance teams.
Expected Update Frequency
The anticipated interval or schedule for updates to the underlying data asset record, such as daily, weekly, monthly, or ad hoc. Sets user expectations for how current or stale the data components might be.
Data Product Category
A standardized way to classify data products in the enterprise marketplace based on how they deliver value, how they are consumed, and what type of asset they represent.
Product Components section
Product Components
From the available list, select the data (service, model, report, etc.) that is exposed by the data product through output data service or datasets in a way that can be consumed, understood, and trusted.
Product Component Details
Detailed information about the specific data components, services, models, or reports that comprise the data product. Provides users with granular understanding of what is included and available for consumption.
Input Sources section
Input Sources
From the available list, select a relationship between data products and consumer/consumed other products/services/endpoints, etc.The technical approaches and protocols available for connecting to and retrieving data from the product, such as APIs, direct database connections, file downloads, or streaming interfaces.
Input Sources Details
Comprehensive information about the upstream data sources, systems, or services that feed into the data product. Helps users understand data lineage, dependencies, and the origin of the information.
Access section
Access Methods
From the available list, select the technical approaches and protocols available for connecting to and retrieving data from the product, such as APIs, direct database connections, file downloads, or streaming interfaces.
Access Details
Specific information about how users can connect to, retrieve, or interact with the data product, including technical requirements, authentication methods, and connection protocols.
Purpose section
Intended Audience
The primary groups, roles, or personas for whom the data product is designed and most valuable. Helps users quickly identify if the resource aligns with their organizational role and responsibilities.
Intended Purpose
The primary business objective or goal that the data product is designed to support. Clarifies the strategic value and expected outcomes from using this data asset.
Use Cases
Specific scenarios, applications, or business problems that the data product can address. Provides concrete examples of how the asset can be applied to generate business value.
Compliance section
Compliance Requirements
From the available list, select an ODRL conformant policy expressing the rights associated with the data product.
Terms of Use
Guidelines, restrictions, and legal stipulations that outline how the data asset can be accessed, shared, or used, including any licensing or proprietary information. Ensures users understand compliance, rights, and limitations associated with the data.
Data Contract section
Data Contract Description
A human-readable explanation of the formal agreement between data producers and consumers, outlining expectations for data quality, availability, and usage responsibilities.
Data Contract Specification
A formal agreement or specification outlining the expectations, requirements, and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) between data producers and consumers regarding the data asset. Ensures clarity and accountability around the data's availability, format, and quality standards.
In the Review tab, check the configuration details for any possible errors before saving it. If adjustments are needed, click Back to edit the configuration.
Click Create to save the data product.
Publishing data products to the marketplace
This section explains how to make a data product available in the marketplace. Publishing promotes a data product so that it appears in the Marketplace for users who already have access to the resource in the catalog. If a data product is not published, it remains visible only in the catalog.
To publish data products to the marketplace:
Browse to the data product that is ready for publishing
In the Marketplace details section, change the status to Published to Marketplace. This makes the data product available to all users who have access to it. Save your changes.

To remove the data product from the Marketplace, change the status to Unpublished and save your changes.

Adding custom sections to marketplace
Note
Only users with Manage access to the catalog can add or remove sections.
This section shows how to create a custom section for the marketplace experience. Administrators can save a filtered list of data products as a new section. Adding custom sections helps you organize the Marketplace experience around business themes or strategic initiatives.
To add a custom section:
In the New navigation, open the Marketplace experience.
Use the search bar and the available filters to define the list of data products you want to feature. Use the Domain, Status, or Tag and more filters to narrow down the results. The Add section button becomes enabled only after at least one filter is applied.
Click Add section.
Enter a section name and click Add section.
The new section is added to the Marketplace experience. It displays the data products that meet the filter criteria.
To remove a section, click the Delete section button next to the section title.
